Ealing Bike Mechanic

Meticulous bike maintenance and fitting in West London

I’ve taken various bikes to Alex Gold, the Ealing Bike Mechanic, and always been very pleased with his work and the end result. I’ve also recommended him to former colleagues who’ve found that their bikes ride much better after Alex has worked on them.

I first met Alex after I had struggled unsuccessfully to mount a new tubeless tyre on a Hunt wheel. It was during lockdown and I had decided not to travel to Cyclefit to leave the wheel and tyre, travel home and back again to collect it. A local mobile bike mechanic would come and fit it for me - for £50! No, thank you. I found Alex, the Ealing Bike Mechanic, through a simple Google search, made an appointment and waited while he rolled the tyre on with his stronger wrists and thumbs - all for £10.

Since then I’ve taken an old mountain bike for attention to the shifters and gears, a child’s bike for general service to make it fit for resale, my Trek single speed to have some mudguards fitted and a road bike for general service. While my latest bike will go back to Cyclefit, I’d have no hesitation in recommending Alex.

He’s always meticulous; a Google review says that he “will go the extra mile to get your bike running perfectly”.

During lockdown when it was hard to buy components, I bought cassettes, chains and brake pads from various firms as they became available. Alex has willingly fitted these.

I should add that I have ridden with Alex on one of Dave Morrison’s rides, his “Wing Tring Thing” from Ruislip. Fortunately, no one needed Alex’s mechanical help.
